What is Live/Work? Traditionally and historically, living in the workplace isn’t a new idea.   In this country, up until the 20th century it was commonplace for business owners to live above or adjacent to their place of business.  With the increasing rise of suburbs, highway systems and growing dependence on the automobile, this type of living and working arrangement became obsolete, even seen as a distinctly lower class way of life.

This change never occurred in Europe, where it has always been common for proprietors to live above their businesses.  It’s one of the most charming and appealing aspects of many towns and villages across Europe.  This type of lifestyle contributes to a community’s vitality, prosperity, walkability and architectural charm.

Thankfully, this country is experiencing a rebirth of the live/work lifestyle.  The live/work concept is being embraced as a philosophy, or way of life.  More and more professionals are experiencing the merits of leaving rush hour behind to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams in great urban neighborhoods.

What is Arista? Arista is a master planned transitoriented village where people will come to live, work, play and shop. The heart of the project is a three-block neotraditional urban main street, called “Arista Place.” Arista Place will bring a mix of residential, office, restaurant, entertainment and retail uses, to include complimentary amenities and services for both residents and regional visitors.

Arista Place is being developed as a lively, pedestrian gathering area, incorporating ease of access to public transportation via adjacency to a bus rapid transit station. This greater Arista project is anchored by the 6,000-seat Broomfield Event Center. Supporting both Arista Place and the Event Center is the Arista Grand Parkade, a 1,500-stall parking garage.

A multi-family residential community with a total of approximately 1,200 “for sale” and “for rent” units is beginning to emerge on the southeastern portion of the site, while the more northerly areas are being planned for large format and pad-site retail (total retail uses are anticipated to range from 600,000 to 800,000 SF).

Trails and a greenbelt system will be integrated throughout to connect the neighborhoods to amenities and neighborhood/regional parks.
